About Me

Hello and welcome!

My name is Gabriela Bernal and I'm a Korean affairs analyst. My research interests include diplomacy with North Korea, security in Northeast Asia, nonproliferation, the Cold War in Asia, great power politics, and multipolarity.

I previously studied political science at Arizona State University and hold two MAs from Sciences Po Paris and King's College London. I also recently completed my PhD in February 2024 at the University of North Korean Studies in Seoul, where I focused on the role of the US in inter-Korean relations in the post-Cold War period (until 2020).

Besides conducting research and writing on political affairs, I enjoy hiking, exploring new places, reading, photography, and eating good food.

If you are interested in my work, would like to collaborate or work together, feel free to get in touch via the contact page.
